The Crystal Ship

Both the concerned bands make their second entry on this here blog. Without further ado, assuming you have already listened to the original here is The Crystal Ship by Nevermore. Off their new album The Obsidiam Conspiracy. The other cover on the album, Tea Party's Temptation doesn't make it but is still worth a mention. Enough ado.

There are more covers of this song that one would care to count. Including a Pussycat Dolls version (but why?).
But as covers go, this one rocks (or is it sways?) so well, it makes you go dig up the original and lover the cover even more – not just because of where’s it’s used (in the classique SF classic Dark City) but how and why it’s used. Jennifer Connelly singing in Anita Kelsey’s sultry voice in that dark and dinghy place just adds that touch, even if its appearance in the movie is only the first few bars. If you have seen Dark City, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t I recommend the Director’s Cut of Dark City. And not just for this awesome cover:
